By now, it’s no secret that watermelon has become my absolute favorite summer fruit.

I can still remember looking forward to my first bite of juicy melon at the beginning of the season, but all things considered, I’m still enjoying it while I can.

Aside from being delicious, watermelons are also hydrating and low in calories. And that’s the reason I love them so much.

If you read this article by mayo clinic, you’ll understand that watermelon is also packed with the antioxidant lycopene, which gives the fruit its red color. It’s one of the highest sources of lycopene out there.

Watermelon is not just a treat on its own; this delicious fruit also makes a great main ingredient in smoothies. This smoothie recipe contains watermelon, mango, and plain yogurt (and, of course, a blender).

This ensures that all the natural flavors shine through in every sip. And it makes sense that fewer ingredients mean less time between blending and drinking. Therefore, it’s great for a quick breakfast or snack on a hectic or hot day.
